The ACCESS project held its kick-off meeting on January 23-24, 2025, in the picturesque town of Montevarchi, Italy. This two-day event brought together representatives from partner organisations from Lithuania, Greece, Romania, Italy and Spain, marking the beginning of a collaborative effort to address Learning Difficulties (LDs) in mainstream classrooms.
During the meeting, we introduced ourselves and our organisations, fostering a sense of teamwork and shared vision. Key sessions were dedicated to discussing the project’s objectives, work plan, and expected deliverables. We also reviewed timelines, roles, and responsibilities, ensuring clarity and alignment among all partners.
The main objective of the ACCESS project is to empower primary school teachers and parents of children aged 6-10, to early identify and manage LDs, reducing the reliance on specialised interventions and fostering inclusion within mainstream education. The project also focuses on strengthening collaboration between teachers, families, and school communities to ensure all students have the opportunity to succeed.
Over its 30-month duration, ACCESS will deliver key outputs, like:
- An asynchronous training course to equip primary school teachers with knowledge and tools to address LDs effectively.
- A digital library containing practical resources and activities for inclusive teaching.
- A toolkit for parents to help families support their children at home.
Through these efforts, the ACCESS project aims to create a more inclusive education system where children with LDs can thrive.
